Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Must be able to effectively supervise assigned personnel to deliver effective and timely services and ensure the crisis center objectives are met daily.
- Must be able to effectively supervise and direct peer support specialists.
- Must be able to supervise and direct the daily activities of the crisis center to ensure all programming and services are being delivered according to protocol to meet daily objectives.
- Must be able to ensure the crisis center has all needed supplies and staffing coverage on a daily basis to ensure services and programming are delivered to meet daily objectives.
- Must be able to collaborate effectively with law enforcement, mental health centers, probate courts, hospitals and other key stakeholders to serve consumers in crisis.
- Ensure that all assigned staff perform their duties according to the Department of Mental Health and other regulatory standards.
- Attend and actively participate in committee meetings as assigned.
- Ensure safety of consumers, preserving basic human and legal rights.
- Demonstrate appropriate and ethical behavior at all times.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude toward work and the completion of work assignments.
- Respond to phone calls/communication in a timely manner.
- Provide consultation and education to community partners, consumers, family and the general public as needed.
- Represent the organization in an accurate and professional manner.
- Follow Crisis Center and IRBH policies and procedures.
- Maintain communication and awareness of current organization events by reading memos, emails, bulletin boards, and communication logs.
- Work independently and/or with teams to complete assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner with minimum supervision.
- Support organizational Code of Conduct, Standards Compliance, HIPAA and Security Programs by ensuring job tasks are performed in a legal and ethical manner, assessing the work area for non-compliance and notifying the supervisor, manager, Crisis Center Director or designee as appropriate, and maintaining training requirements and understanding that training is a required condition of employment.
- Maintain the confidential nature of all consumer and organization related activities by not divulging information outside the facility.
- Adhere to attendance and punctuality policy by allowing adequate time to arrive, clock-in and assume responsibilities at designated time, adhering to meal and break times and making timely requests for annual leave and reporting the need for sick leave in accordance with policy.
- Comply with all standards related to safety and health by maintaining current TB Test, CPR/First Aid, CPI, and by reporting infections and on-the-job injuries in accordance with policy.
- Identify opportunities for improving the quality of services provided by the department and the organization.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Crisis Center Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in behavioral sciences preferred.
- At least 2 years experience in a community mental health setting preferred.
- LPC/LICSW and CPSS preferred.
- Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
- Must be able to utilize required computer equipment and software.

Working Conditions: Works in residential facilities; may require long hours. Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees, consumers and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to, computer, copier, multi-line phone and fax machine. Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds and negotiate several sets of stairs in an eight (8) hour shift. Some risk involved in the event of aggressive/out-of-control consumers. Must possess a valid Alabama driver's license.
